KASODEFO is strongly condemning the ongoing killings of women with witchcraft suspects in Maswa district and Simiyu region as whole
Following the increase of Gender Based Violence (GBV) over women in Maswa district and Simiyu region as whole, KASODEFO is openly condemning such evils against humanity over women. We are strengthening our paralegal department to provide legal supports to all victims, and broadening our campaign against the killings of elder women and all forms of gender based violence, oppression and discrimination over women and girl children. Sad news as reported from the district police office (also reported by Radio Free Africa on Wednesday, August 13, 2014); Magdalena John (78 years) of Kashishi village in Kadoto ward (Maswa district) was devastatingly injured by the killers who invaded her during the mid night of 12 August 2014 left her injured while her right hand was completely chopped. Investigation reports reveal that the reason behind such incident was the mission of killing that woman due to witchcraft suspect. Our organization is working hard to get the detailed information about the progress of the case at the police and to provide legal and medical support to the woman who is admitted at Maswa district government hospital.
The same killings of women are wide spread and increasing day to day in Simiyu region. In the same context, Hidaya Sayi (38 years) a popular business woman from Bariadi (capital of Simiyu region) was killed in 25th January 2014 (data from Regional Police Commander, Simiyu region).
